Octoblur

October? Where did you go?

When I look back it's all a blur...hence my catchy title.

Thank goodness for the pictures to jog my almost 4-0 brain!

I think it went something like this:
Time to represent your country for United Nations Day.
Luke is from the country of Texas A&M.
  I LOVE United Nations Day!
The kids dress up in traditional dress from their home country.
Can you spot the Aggie?
There is a big flag parade of all the countries represented at
our school.  Texas and his best bud Canada represented the UK!
(this is Luke and his great friend Christian...they share a birthday!)
Luke was so proud to be a flag bearer!
After the parade we share foods from all over the world.
Luke and I represented the good old USofA with root beer floats!
Always a hit!
Can you spot Luke's United Nation Day jersey?
Speaking of countries and flags, this month Luke learned how to fold the
American flag in Cub Scouts.
Pretty cool he learned to fold an American flag in Singapore!

Birthdays!  More birthdays to celebrate! 12 and 10 this year for
Blake and Olivia!
Blake turned 12 and FINALLY got her first phone.
Did you know she was the ONLY 6th grader without a phone!?

Sleepyhead birthday morning girl.

We celebrated Blake's birthday at AMPED.
Super cool trampoline place.

After the girls jumped we had pizza and cake downstairs in the hawker center!
(area with food stalls with lots of asian foods)

Double digits for Olivia! 10!!

Olivia celebrated year 10 with a SLUMBER PARTY with 12 of her buds.
yes, that would make 13 girls sleeping over plus Lilly.
(I farmed Blake and Luke out for the night)

These 13 cuties spent the evening doing a scavenger hunt, swimming,
crafting and giggling. Olivia has some super sweet friends....How
cool to celebrate with friends from all over the world!
We had India, Thailand, Taiwan, Canada and of course USA in the house!

Scavenger hunting in an apartment building was interesting!

This is what 13 girls sleeping in your living room looks like.
It was a great party.  I survived!

More that went on in October....
I went to Bangkok!!
But that deserves a post of it's own!
Deric rode a segway in Sanya, China.
The kids took many rides down to the bus.

They wore pink for Breast Cancer Awareness.

Lilly took a taxi ride in a tutu with a baby doll.

Luke became a webelo in cubscouts.
There was a sacred face painting ceremony...
Deric traveling....he owes me.

We experienced Oktoberfest asian style.

Lilly modeled her new bathing cap.

Blake had her 3rd TDT dance.

I am teaching Luke's First Holy Communion class
and on this day only the boys showed up.
Help.
Olivia got a retainer.
Lilly and Maya shared an umbrella.
Olivia's class went on a fieldtrip.

Luke swam a relay for cub scouts.

I was robbed of my bed.
We made rosaries in my CCD class.

Blake got a trim with layers.

We bought our pumpkin from the school pumpkin patch
for the bargain price of $30.
We carved the $30 pumpkin.

Lilly felt the need to come in costume to the pumpkin carving.

Scary!

Nope.  There was no drama at all over who got the light the pumpkin.  Nope.
We even toasted the seeds.  They were tasty!

We will wrap up October with HALLOWEEN!
There were school parties.
Eyeball in a spoon relay.

There were costumes.
Lilly went as Cinderella.
And a black cat.
And Ariel.  Big sister hand me downs are the best.
There was a peacock sighting at Four Seasons Park.
(my favorite costume ever!)
Olivia and Aeysha ready for treats!

Yep the month flew by..
I guess that's a good thing.  1 more month closer to
Christmas in Texas!

Cheers from Singapore!

  1. Emily, You are making your children's lives so memorable. What fun you must be as a mother. It makes me envious for my own grandchildren. Keep up the good work.
