Sofiya

The day after Thanksgiving we went to a little birthday party for our neighbor Sofiya.  Sofiya lives a few villas down and we play with her a lot in our park.  Sofiya is so special because she was adopted just a little over a year ago from Ethiopia.  Sofiya's father died of AIDS and her mother ran away.  She was living with an aunt who then took her to an orphanage.  I don't mean to be so depressing but I just wanted you to hear about this sweet, beautiful little girl and all she has been through!  Olivia loves to play with her.  She has been to our house a lot where she seems just amazed by the kids and all our toys.  We taught her about Halloween and even loaned her our Belle dress for her first night of trick-or-treating.  Sofiya already speaks 2 languages German(her mom is German) and English(her dad is Australian).  This was Sofiya's first birthday ever celebrated!  Can you imagine!!!  There were many families there who had adopted from Ethiopia.  We had such a great time and feel so blessed to have been there to see such a special life moment!

Check out the grass..It's artifcial!  It is so pretty and
feels good on your feet!  It's hard to grow pretty grass here!
