Olivia Turns 7!

Sweet Olivia Mae celebrated our final birthday of the year in Dubai!  She turned 7 October 6.  She at first was very bummed that she had to go to school on her birthday.  However after I told her that I would be bringing muffins in to celebrate she got happy.  Olivia woke to presents and donuts and lots of love from her family!  She then had homemade blueberry and pumpkin spice muffins delivered to her class by her mom and dad.  Her class was very funny.  Noone seemed to want the pumpkin muffins.  I think many of them had never heard of a pumpkin!  Seriously!  Remember that not all the kids at ASD are American. Only 60% of the school is required to hold an American passport.  So many of the kids are local to the region.  I have been on a mad hunt for canned pumpkin lately to make these special muffins.  Luckily, afterward my sweet friend Diane from Abilene gave me a bag full of canned pumpkin!  I have to quickly share the recipe for the muffins I made for Olivia's class.  SO EASY!  You take a spice cake mix and one can of pumpkin.  That is it!!!!  No oil or eggs!  Trust me!  Mix and add to greased muffin pan...sprinkle with coarse sugar.  The BEST moist muffins!

Olivia was very proud to have us in her class.  I could tell that she is very well-liked by her classmates!  One little girl even brought her a wrapped little gift!  It was one of her personal stuffed animals that she had wrapped all up herself and gave to Liv!!  How sweet was that!

Olivia ended her birthday at Tips and Toes.  She invited our new great friends the Sassos to join her in getting her nails and toes done.  This was perfect because the next day we were leaving for our little mini-vacation to Oman and pretty toes are a must for the beach!

We adore our sweet Olivia, Liv, Livi, Libba-Dib, Libba-Dibba-Dibbia..
At age 7 Olivia is sweet, extremely social, always wanting to help and likes to work hard like her Daddy.  Olivia loves to please us.  She has stunning blue eyes, is very funny, wants to take piano and be a singer when she grows up.  Olivia's name is called many many times by friends saying "hi" when we walk out of school everyday.  Olivia is working hard at her reading and getting better everyday.  Olivia will ask you 400 times to turn up the radio.  You can tell what Liv had for lunch if you look at her shirt at the end of the day.  You can tell where Liv sat at the table by looking at the floor.  Olivia will eat anything.  She likes to wear crazy knee high socks with her uniform and she loves the word "disgusting".  Olivia plays well with Luke...most of the time.  Olivia's favorite movie is The Princess Diaries.  Olivia wants to visit Genovia....Everyone says Olivia looks like my mother.  Olivia can make her parents need to drink lots of wine.  Olivia can't take a picture without striking a pose.  She has not skipped a beat during our move...she likes to make fun of "berka-ladies" very loudly in public.   She has a new hot pink bike that she loves to ride after school in the park.  She is a little sis to Blake and a big-sis to Luke and Lilly.  Olivia is a blessing and adds sparkle to our family.

  1. I just had to post a comment. As I was reading about sweet Liv I laughed out loud many times. It sounded like a COMPLETE description of my sweet 9 and a half year old, Amiya. These two together would be priceless. I love reading about your adventure. What a sweet family you have and what a great mother you are! Glad all is going well there! I'm sure Mama D and Grandpa Terry miss you guys terribly but what a great opportunity for you and your family!
