Road trip to Rawa

When you live on a tiny island you sometimes need to get off the island.

Okay....and go to ANOTHER ISLAND!

ROAD TRIP!

Last weekend we had a 4 day weekend.  Time for some adventure.

Rawa Island Malaysia here we come!
After a 2 hour bus ride....and a somewhat choppy boat ride.....

We arrived HERE.
Hello RAWA!

Hello GORGEOUS beaches and crazy fun slides for kids.
What more do you need?
Okay..maybe some paddle boating?
Kayaking?  Kayaking is good!
Scuba diving?

Some snorkeling? Snorkeling was a hit with all ages!

LUUUUUUKE...WHAT DO YOU SEE?
(DARTH VADER VOICE)

Some friends?  Yes, friends are good!

Friends make island getaways more FUN!

Hello Malaysian waterslide!
You could only go down when
there was a high tide. This shot shows low tide so no sliding!

High tide!  Wooo-hooo!

Even Dad had to get in on the action-
(No, no not sore after this.  Nope.)

Lilly preferred the small blue slide with Daddy.

We stayed in these really cute little bungalows on the water-
Such a pretty island!

There were peacocks roaming everywhere!

A small afternoon shower made it even more beautiful!

Not much more to say except that we had a great trip.
Pretty amazing that in 3 short hours with no plane ride we could be HERE.

Road trips are good.
Cheers from Singapore!

PS- And yes, even on a tiny island in
Malaysia we found a way to watch the Ags!

#4 Turns 4!

Monday our #4 turned 4.  Sweet Lilly how are you 4?

You looked like this the day we moved overseas:
Now you look like this:

WOW!  Your hair has grown.

Speaking of hair.  We celebrated Sunday with a Tangled/Rapunzel party.
Lilly digs the Tangled movie.  We have seen it one zillion times.

(She wanted to wear the wig to the party but determined it was too sweaty")

To celebrate I baked an old school barbie cake like my
mom used to make.  This cake did me in.  The icing kept sliding off
the sides and the dress part kept collapsing.  I could NOT get
the front to look smooth so we went with a "flowy" look.

Yes, that is an alcoholic beverage behind Rapunzel.
I also baked some Pascal cookies.

Pascal is Rapunzel's little animal friend.

Pascal I hate you.
This was the hardest thing I have ever done in the kitchen!
I have new found respect for cookie artists!  YES, these
cookie people are artists!!!!  And I am NOT one of them!

I had to be restrained by my family not to throw them in the trash!
Why do they look all weird and wet!???

Okay...I am over it.  Moving on- When you put it all together it was cute.

The party was a success.

We crafted up some fake hair.
It's not a party without fake hair.  Wait!
that's for the next post.

We waited patiently for a special guest to arrive!

Rapunzel is that you?!
So what if Rapunzel had a thick german accent?
(which Lilly quickly pointed out)
Rapunzel played games with the kids-

Thank you Rapunzel!

Lilly told me the next morning that she was so glad I did not invite
Rapunzel's evil mother because she would have wrecked everything. HA!

We had snacks from a frying pan, Rapunzel's weapon of choice.

Cake time!

Make a wish #4.

After the party we went upstairs as a family for some
present opening.  Below is my favorite shot of the day!

PRESENTS!

Still can't believe she's 4.  sighhhhh
Cheers from Singapore!

PS- Only in Asia do you get a Hello Kitty rice
cooker with pretend sushi and chopsticks for your birthday!
