Birthday-palooza

As October wraps up this week I feel the need to pat myself on the back that I survived yet another birthday season.  4 kid's birthdays within roughly 48 days of each other.  It was real, it was fun but please don't say the word birthday around me for a very long time. Ha!

Blake turned TEN October 1.  A momentous occasion for our first born daughter!  TEN?  Really?  Blake wanted to celebrate with a sleepover.  Her first one!  We had a great time planning her special evening.  A sleepover cake, some crafts and special Dubai friends made for the perfect 10th birthday.

So how do you construct a sleepover cake?  First you Google the instructions!  I found that I would need some Twinkies to create the little bodies under the covers.  Great!  Good luck finding Twinkies around here!  I luckily stumbled upon an arabic Twinkie-like variety and made do!  You slice them in half and lay them on top of the iced cake to make the bodies.  Then ice over them to create the blanket.

I was pretty pleased with the cake.  Smarties for the polka-dots and marshmallows for the little girlies!  The hardest part was the faces.  Caution: Girls DO NOT eat the marshmallows.  I used a sharpie to draw the little faces!  I am just not that talented with the icing! Ha!

Texas in Dubai

On Blake's actual birthday we took the kids to yes...TEXAS ROADHOUSE.  No we have not moved back to Houston yet. We simply headed down Sheikh Zayed to The Dubai Mall.  The Texas Roadhouse opened this summer and it really does give you a little taste of Texas in Dubai.  The country music was blaring, there were some line-dancing waiters and someone special even got to sit on a saddle.  The food was YUMMY, college football was on the TV and there was real ice tea with REFILLS!
A little taste of home...at the mall.

THE BACKGROUND MAKES THIS MY FAVORITE SHOT.
HONEY BUTTER BISCUITS AND PEANUTS!
TEN YEARS OLD!  WAIT...DOES THAT MAKE ME 10 YEARS OLDER?
THE WHOLE RESTAURANT CHEERED "YEE-HAW" FOR BLAKE!

LINE DANCING WAITERS...
RIBS AND MASHED POTATOES...YUM!

A little bit of Texas in the desert?  We'll take it!  Cheers from Dubai!
